One Mortal - Two Immortal

Duncan MacLeod, usually known as 'Mac' or 'MacLeod', was born on the Winter Solstice in 1592. His birthplace was the Scottish Highlands village of Glenfinnan, on the shores of Loch Shiel. His immortal life began in October 1622, at the age of 30, when he was killed in battle between the Clans MacLeod and Campbell. In five centuries of travelling the world, he has acquired a great deal of knowledge, wisdom and respect for humanity. His first Quickening was in 1625, from the death of the hermit who foretold his (Mac's) destiny.

Joe Dawson is a member of the 'Watchers', an ancient secret organization. They have been watching Immortals for centuries, recording their activities, never interferring or revealing their presence. Joe has been Duncan's watcher since 1979. Against the rules, Joe introduced himself in 1993, when he needed Mac's help to stop renegade watcher James Horton from a senseless killing of Imortals. They have been friends since then.

Methos is 5000 years old, the oldest known Immortal. The circumstances of his birth and beginning of his Immortal life are unknown. In an ironic twist of fate, he is the Watcher Adam Pierson, who was first assigned to find 'Methos'. He studied medicine in Heidelbrg, Germany, in 1453. Once considered among the most evil of Immortals, he is now a 'nice guy', with a better understanding and appreciation of mortals. After introducing himself in 1995, he became friends with Duncan, and later with Joe.

This Trio of Heroes is the 'drawing card' of HIGHLANDER: THE SERIES. They provide the action and romance that keeps viewers still watching the reruns.
