Ruling Planet - Moon

Moon Cancer's ruling planet is the moon.

The Moon Rules:
The subconscious mind, generation, inspiration, emotions, travel by water, the sea and tides, fertility, intuition, psychic ability

The moon governs emotions.
*the full moon has a diverse effect upon the many beings on this planet
*some people report an increase of energy during a full moon, as opposed to a lack of energy at dark moon
*its effect on nature is obvious. We do know that certain flowers only bloom during full moon. The tides of the ocean are perhaps the most well-known and obvious proof of the effect of the moon.
*Studies show that the light of the full moon is much brighter on the night that it is actually full than on the night just before or just after.
*A 'blue moon' occurs in a month when there are two full moons. The second is the Blue Moon. It happens only once a year.

The Moon is the only natural satellite of Earth:
orbit: 384,400 km from Earth
diameter: 3476 km
mass: 7.35e22 kg
Called Luna by the Romans, Selene and Artemis by the Greeks, and many other names in other mythologies.
Due to its size and composition, the Moon is sometimes classified as a terrestrial "planet" along with Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars.

Luna - Latin for moon. The Greeks and later the Romans believed that the moon was a Goddess. They often identified her with Diana (Artemis), the sister of Apollo, the Sun God. Luna was associated with recurrent diseases and it was sometimes believed that she would drive people insane if they offended her. The word lunatic, meaning moonstruck, comes from her name.

Corresponding Planet: Sun

The Sun represents fertility, faith, free will, spirit and the ability to bring ideas into form. Sun is life; it rules the heart and one's ambitions and desires.

Planting By The Moon

The Moon's magnetic force pulls all that contains water: the tides of our oceans, the blood and fluids of our bodies, and the vital essences of all plantlife--such influence can be seen quite clearly in the growth of plants.
All crops that produce their yield above ground should be planted during the Waxing (New to Full) Moon: the first week is especially good for crops that have their seeds on the outside, such as aspargus, cabbage, broccoli, celery and spinach. The second week (between the 1st quarter and the Full Moon) is best for crops that produce seeds on the inside, like peppers, tomatoes, peaches, cucumbers and melons.
During the waning Moon (Full to New Moon) plant root crops such as potatoes, peanuts, carrots and onions. *Do not* plant on the day of the New Moon or Full Moon.
